Tony, I am a huge fan of David Meerman Scott and have witnessed his New Rules work in my own blogging and am impressed with the results. I agree with your take on podcasting as well. I have participated in several podcasts and am preparing to start my own in the next few weeks. I had the great opportunity of co-hosting a podcast with David Meerman Scott a few month back; here's the link: http://leadonpurposeblog.com/2008/05/07/podcast-the-new-rules-of-marketing-and-pr/

Tony, great post ;)

Yes, we do read blog posts about Zoho, and try our best to ensure a positive experience for users. You have taken the time to write, and the least we can do is to provide the courtesy of interaction!

There is a revolution under way - companies no longer get to hide behind a corporate mask and act "official". The action is right here, in blogs like yours.

Thank you.

Let me tell you something about George Lessmeister & LGC Associates. LGC is one of the MOST expensive staffing firms in Indianapolis, not to mention he & his internal employees hire whatever walks through his door. He discriminates, lies to his clients, lies to his employees, and even cheats his employees out of money that they fairly deserve! If he was selective in his hiring, then why are so many of his clients unhappy? Just ask for the names and numbers of his four largest food service & hospitality accounts in Indy and see what "good" things they have to say about them. He's unethical and deserves none of the selfish success that he has obtained. Please do your research first and find the BEST staffing firm out there before you go with one like LGC. There are good firms out there, you just have to look and ask arouund. Trust me, my company found out the hard way...

Mark,

My pleasure. In addition to your great content, I really love the commitment you guys have to your listeners. I am continually amazed at the amount of hard-earned knowledge you guys give away for free.

I do have an episode idea for you. What about discussing the personal-care aspect of great managers? My Dad was a much respected executive, and I always noticed that he took very good care of himself. He worked out every morning, ate well, didn't drink, etc.

I have always believed that preparing yourself physically for excellence must be a part of a truly great manager's routine.

Again, keep up the great work!

Hi
site it is also a very good in giving the information on internet marketing blog

The main goal of an internet presence is and has always been to be found and understood. It’s generally the introduction to a (hopefully) long and fruitful business relationship. Let’s look at the current mix of internet “properties” that make up the Promethius Consulting web presence. Keep in mind that these change all the time as we constantly tinker to keep current with internet marketing best-practices.

I was listening to your pod cast. Then read this;

For another perspective, BNI founder Patrick Carney has a good blog post about how to deal with the time-crunch surrounding a first impression.

Patrick Carney was not the founder of BNI, he was CEO of LeTips, Dr. Ivan R. Misner is the Founder of BNI.

good job on the interview!

[...] Tony Valle has a great post called Top 5 Corporate Podcast Mistakes to Avoid Like the Plague.
Thanks for including me on the list.
What most people don't know about me:
1) I hear music through the bottom of my feet. I'm tone deaf, so it is all about the rythmn and the beat!
2) I speak Hebrew, badly. I had to learn so I could teach English as a second language in a small town in Israel.
3) Although I still think of myself as a New Yorker, I have actually lived outside of NYC most of my life.
4) My all time favorite movie is Singing in the Rain, and I think Donald O'Conner was a much better dancer than Gene Kelly.
5)I was going to be an accountant.
Some of my favorite blogs:
Kevin Eikenberry - http://kevineikenberry.com/
Rainmakers - http://www.gorainmakers.com/rainmakers/Blog/tabid/76/Default.aspx

[...] You can bet Paul probably didn’t write this concerning bloggers linking to each other but the concept is the same. I have been tagged by Tony over at GreatBigPodcast.com. Based on an idea that seemed rather “cheesy email questionaire-ish” to me at first but I think is actually pretty cool. You tell 5 things about yourself someone probably wouldn’t know and then “blog tag” 5 other folks to do the same. Seems to be spreading pretty far and it is the holiday season so how can I resist. I know we all have that friend or relative that sends us the email question list (every day) with 600 responses that you HAVE to fill out and send on to 10 friends or all your hair will fall out and you will get planters warts. But this seems a bit more reasonable and a great way to introduce you to some friends of mine. I want to change it up just a bit and offer 5 things and 5 friends that are resources for me and tell you why I read their stuff. [...]

I can totally see a B horror movie script out of this. A cook/musician sneaks onto Willie Nelson's bus only to find out they have all been turned into zombies with snakes that speak Spanish.

Snakes on a Tour Bus

Thanks for passing the love along.

Feliz Navidad!

I am very impressed! I really like that you are including different interviews, and different sound bites to add interest and texture! It makes it much more interesting than listening to one voice drone on and on about a topic. Great job...it sounds so professional...like a real radio broadcast, you must be like a real professional podcaster or something. :)

Re: Starbucks Decline... I agree with the top brass. It's the wait. All I ever order is straight-up bold coffee, but I still have to wait for it.

By installing Starbucks in Target & Kroger -- I'm not sure that hurts the brand. When I think of going to Kroger now, I think about shopping with coffee in-hand. This makes me happy, and the cup makes me look cooler than you. :-)

Well said Scott. We see that a lot with our clients as well. Folks come in to the studio wanting to regurgitate a brochure in audio format rather than doing something more real and genuine.

I think a key power of the podcast medium is that it reveals a bit of truth whether intended or not.

Thanks for the comment!

Nice job, Tony. I would add that when doing a corporate podcast, resist the temptation to put out repurposed "marketing" stuff. We remind our clients that you bond with people on their problems, not your your solution.

Cheers,

Great Idea Ron. We're thinking about using Zoho surveys to check the pulse of our clients' satisfaction level with our service.

I'm glad you were able to find Zoho useful right away!

I agree Balaji. I think that's a sign of a good writer. It's interesting to see how difficult it is to be a really good communicator. I think simplicity is probably a very important element.

Ann has been an incredibly natural blogger, right from the start. She's helped shape my own writing, since her former ClickZ days - and I have been honored to learn and learn and learn from her. This is indeed a lovefest. Thanks for pointing out her talent to the larger blogosphere, Tony.

Wow, Alan.
You're like the Hints from Heloise of bachelor stoners. I, for one, salute you.

And what exactly IS a good flavor of antacid that goes with cereal aftertaste?

An 'I Digress' Moment... Speaking of The Capn'... This sounds like a sick tip, but here's your answer to the Capn' Crunch mouth, or any rough {great} cereal for that matter... You know the Antacid chewables? It needs to be a 'good flavor' that goes well with the cereal aftertaste. All you need is one after your usual 5 bowls of sweet cereal goodness. It immediately puts-out the fire, moving focus to the now-bloated stomach.

I'm glad you got to read it Ann. Kudos in the blogosphere are a bit difficult to come by. It's nice to see those deserving of praise actually get to witness (and hopefully enjoy) that praise.

I'm not exactly sure how you will top "Chex Mix," but I have no doubt you will.

Thank you for the kudos Tony...and thanks to Alan and my brother Mack, too. I'm seriously flattered! (Slightly embarrassed, yes. But flattered nonetheless.)

And I agree -- this is a very nice phrase, Tony: "It’s like riding a bike slightly downhill."

Thanks, again...!

I love the Cap'n, but the roof of my mouth can't really withstand the power of the crunch for extended periods of time.

As long as we're all Marketing nerds and such, you all might find this interesting. I just heard the other day that General Mills hired the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoonist to create a character (which of course ended up being the Cap'n) BEFORE any discussion of what the cereal would be.

I just thought it was fascinating. They created the advertising vehicle before they even created the product.

Any way, thanks again.

Now don't we got us a dandy little blog-lovefest going on here?

Thanks for the compliment, Tony. And never, NEVER underestimate the power of a sturdy bowl of suger-enriched cereal (I'm a Cap'n Crunch man myself).

Thanks for the comment Mack. I'm a big fan of your weekly Top 25 by the way. I always thought that was one of those "why didn't I think of that?!?!" ideas.

Of course I only just started blogging a few months ago, so I'll cut myself some slack I suppose.

Thanks again.

Seems to me you've coasted down the right path to being "skilled blogger" yourself - although I'd posit that, without the raw tools of creativity, talent and the ability to turn a clever phrase, most bloggers are dead in the water.

Case in point: "It’s like riding a bike slightly downhill." Nice.
